North Cobb Christian is experiencing something different this year: a GHSA varsity football team. It is always difficult to have success when you start a new program, and unfortunately, that was the case in their first game, as they fell 34-6 to Mount Pisgah. Head coach Terrence Lott will have plenty of time to get his team ready. Their next game will be against Cherokee High School (N.C.). Facing an out-of-state opponent was a big step for the first-year program. … The softball team has had a tough time already this season. They have yet to record a victory in their first five games. … The volleyball team had a smashing victory in their first match, winning in straight sets 3-0 against Fellowship Christian. They weren’t so lucky the next time out, as they lost to Walker 2-0 on Saturday. The team also faced off against Lakeside, DeKalb and Riverwood on Tuesday, though results were not available from either at press time. … The cross country teams will compete in the Our Lady of Mercy Invitational before running at the Clara Bowl.
