Warriors will kick off football season at home vs. M.L. King

Expectations are sky high at North Cobb. The disappointment of 2007 still stings after going undefeated all season before losing in the first round of the playoffs, but head coach Shane Queen should feel good about the team he has. Highly recruited defensive lineman Derrick Lott will anchor the defense. The offense will be led by speedy wide receiver Rico Mack, who will play at Middle Tennessee State. All the action will get started this Friday at home against M.L. King. … The softball team started off the season in mediocre fashion, going 2-2 in its first four matchups. The team traveled to Marietta on Tuesday, but results were not available at press time. On Thursday, the Warriors will play host to Etowah, a tune-up before they host the North Cobb Warrior Classic on Sept. 10-13. … Warrior volleyball has struggled this season with a 5-8 record. They hope to rebound against Hillgrove and Roswell in their next two matches. … The cross country team competed at the hill Kosh Classic to open the season. They will next race at the Clara Bowl.
