Week 11 Football Rankings

In Class 6A, No. 1 Carrollton was off on a bye and will close out its season next Friday against No. 4 Douglas County—which scored a 42-0 win over Chapel Hill to set up a region championship showdown with the top-ranked Trojans. No. 2 Buford topped Mountain View 49-2 and No. 3 North Gwinnett defeated rival Norcross 27-21. Lowndes replaced Richmond Hill at No. 9 following a 28-7 win over the Wildcats and Valdosta returned at No. 10 after scoring a 14-7 win over Tift County.

No. 6 Roswell outlasted a feisty No. 7 Gainesville whose quarterback Kharim Hughley threw six touchdown passes in the loss. No. 8 Rome won its four consecutive region title with a 35-7 win over New Manchester. No. 9 Decatur suffered its first loss of the season to Woodward Academy.

I didn’t move the Patriots down too much because they are still title contenders in my eyes and will get a chance to win a region championship against Troup County this weekend. No. 4 Westover defeated Dougherty 35-0. No. 5 LaGrange had an idle week. No. 6 Douglass-Atlanta shut out Mt. Zion Jonesboro 36-0. No. 7 Calhoun picked up a 38-0 shutout victory over Heritage-Catoosa. The Class 2A poll did not shift with all 10 ranked teams scoring big wins this week. No. 1 Toombs County continues to roll after its 51-6 win over Vidalia.
