Cincinnati landed the program’s first prospect for the Class of 2026 after Jerimia Collier committed to the Bearcats Saturday. Collier was in Cincinnati for a game-day visit as the Bearcats took on Houston. He committed while he was there and discussed his decision on why he became a Bearcat.
“There were a lot of reasons. The relationship I have with the coaches and understanding they want me to be the best version of myself is what I love. Also, the defense Cincinnati runs is what really caught my attention. At the position I would play, I would make a lot of big plays for sure,” said Collier.
Collier loves the relationships he has with defensive line coach Walter Stewart and head coach Scott Satterfield.
“Coach Stewart is a great guy. I feel like I’m gonna fit perfectly into the defensive scheme and make big plays. Coach Satterfield is an amazing head coach. I love his intensity and can’t wait to get up there and work with him,” said Collier.
Collier is already enamored with Bearcat nation and loves the game-day atmosphere at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati.
“Nippert Stadium is so electric. The fans were so into the game and I just loved it. I’m not gonna lie the game was so lit it had me ready to play with the team myself. My message to Bearcat Nation is, you’re getting a playmaker. I can’t wait to get there and put on a show for you guys,” said Collier.

Similar to many players Collier was highly underrated and didn’t get a lot of notice. He had a dominant sophomore season at linebacker finishing with 104 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries, and three sacks. Collier was the second-leading tackler on the team. He became a three-star prospect on Rivals and had 14 offers before making his decision. He has a message for young players and those that are under looked.
“To any athlete that feels like you’re being slept on out there, just work. No cameras, no likes, no crowd, just you constantly working. I’m a perfect example of that. I would’ve never thought that my sophomore season would turn out the way it did, but the reason it turned out so well is because it’s different when you become a student of the game and work with a passion. It separates you from an average player.
His play on the field as a sophomore was something to watch. Someone else who deserves credit is Jonesboro recruiting coordinator and offensive line coach Darren Carmicheal. He does a great job at the high school level promoting his guys and going with them on visits. He has played a key factor in getting more eyes and exposure for the Jonesboro program. Coach Carmicheal has helped guys like Cortez Redding, Jontavius Wyman, and Jamar Owens become national names in recruiting with the exposure he gives them. Wyman committed to Georgia this past summer. Redding is one of the best safety prospects in the country.
Collier is currently working back from injury and Jonesboro has been holding down the fort with a 3-2 record and 1-0 record in Region 3-4A. The Cardinals have a big showdown this week against Central-Carrollton.
