Week 2 Football Rankings

Colquitt County moved up to No. 5 after Buford slid to No. 9 following a dramatic 29-28 win over Benedictine in the Class 6A poll. Walton, Mill Creek and Camden County each moved up one spot and Collins Hill remains No. 10 after its narrow win over Woodward Academy.

Top-ranked Milton defeated national powerhouse American Heritage in the Broward County Classic 37-28. TJ Lester had two rushing touchdowns and Georgia commit Ethan Barbour scored the final touchdown of the game, a 69-yard touchdown pass. Barbour had a dominant game against American Heritage. No. 2 Hughes was dominant for the second week in a row this time against Mays in a 36-point victory. No. 3 Gainesville used a dominant defensive performance against Moody on the road showing they are a contender in 5A. The Red Elephants won 31-3. No. 4 Thomas County Central defeated Cairo 44-14 and scored 40+ points in their first two contests. No. 5 Coffee battled Ware County in a game that featured five lead changes. RB Tyrese Woodgett was key in the 20-16 victory rushing for three touchdowns. No. 6 Houston County won a high-scoring thriller against Effingham County 44-41. No. 7 Lee County scored 66 points for the first time since 2020 against Crawford County in their victory against Hapeville Charter. No.8 Rome was idle this week and will face the top-ranked Carrollton Trojans. No. 9 Roswell makes its debut in the poll and will face the Walton Raiders this week. No. 10 Dutchtown suffered a 21-14 loss to South Gwinnett, and Woodward Academy slid out of the poll after starting the season 0-2.

No. 1 Sandy Creek defeated rival McIntosh 54-22 and has looked strong to start the season. No. 2 Monroe Area shutout Cedar Scholas in a 38-0 victory. No. 3 Douglass-Atlanta, No. 4 Troup County, and No. 5 Peach County all suffered losses this week. No. 6 Jefferson got back to their winning ways after a 38-3 victory against Jackson County. No. 7 LaGrange also had a bounce-back performance with a 53-0 victory against Early County. No. 8 Upson-Lee lost a defensive battle against Manchester 6-0. No. 9 Lumpkin County was idle this week. No. 10 Dougherty suffered a blowout to Toombs County and is trending down.

No. 1 Bowdon rebounded nicely after their close defeat to Fellowship Christian the week before. They beat the top team Macon County 56-7. No. 2 Irwin County won a high-scoring affair against Worth County 55-46. No. 3 Seminole County defeated Chattahoochee County 27-13. No.4 Schley County gets back to .500 after a 47-23 victory against Hawkinsville. No. 5 Manchester leaned on their defense for a 6-0 win against Upson Lee. No. 6 Macon County slid down a few spots after their blowout loss to Bowdon. No. 7 Clinch County and No. 8 Metter each picked up wins this past week. No. 9 Johnson County defeated Montgomery County 27-6. No. 10 Greene County makes its debut in the poll and Telfair County slides out.

No. 1 Toombs County picked up a 41 victory on Friday night against Dougherty and led for a wire-to-wire victory. No. 2 Dublin dominated East Laurens in their 66-26 victory. No. 3 Thomasville moved up six spots after their 40-7 win against Pelham. No. 4 Bleckley County lost a close game to Dodge County 19-16. No. 5 Fitzgerald was idle this week. No. 6 Bremen defeated Jordan 57-6. No. 7 Model lost to Cass 48-0, but Cass is one of the best teams in 4A. No. 8 Fannin County makes its first appearance in the poll after defeating No. 9 Rabun County 28-7. No. 10 Coosa also makes its debut after a 32-0 victory against Southeast Whitfield County. Swainsboro and Commerce after dropping to 0-2.
