Westside-Macon hosts numerous schools at Georgia High School Football Media Day

It was smooth sailing at the second day of the Georgia High School Football Media Day at Westside High School in Macon, where first-rate interviews with some of the best teams, players and coaches in the state were broadcast on the Atlanta News First app or the NFHS Network.

Najeh Wilkins and Craig Sager II anchored the broadcast to start and a rotation of hosts and interviewees shared the spotlight in the Westside-Macon auditorium.

Upon entering the building, players had the option to scan a QR code to enter raffle with a chance to win tickets to a Falcons game, a copy of EA College Football 25 and sideline passes to the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Programs traveled from all over the southern part of the state to converge at Westside including the Southeast Bulloch flag football team and Calvary Day’s flag football team, both from the Savannah area to join the Media Day.

Warner Robins took the stage to open the interview sessions and was followed by Rutland’s flag football program and Greene County.

At 1 p.m., Calvary Day flag football coach Nick Grassi took the stage alongside a handful of players. Grassi coached the Cavaliers to the first-ever GHSA state championship in flag football for Class A-5A in the inaugural season in 2020.

He spent time highlighting the differences between playing other teams in the Savannah area, which might not provide as much of a challenge as Atlanta programs like McEachern or other teams who’ve ‘put in the time’ to create a quality team. His daughter, Rily, is entering her freshman year and playing for her father.

During an intermission, Wilkins welcomed Max Wolborsky and Hayden Gilbert to the stage to discuss the impact of the latest EA College Football 25 video game and some of the highlights of the upcoming season as well as the depth of talent throughout the state.
