Day two of the Brent Key Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 tournament on June 5 will feature 24 teams from around the state and a few schools from surrounding states trying to hone their passing offenses and defenses in one of the biggest 7-on-7 tournaments of the summer.
Of the hundreds of players, a handful stand out above the rest.
Peachtree Ridge 4-star cornerback, Dorian Barney will be one of the top defensive backs to watch at the event. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound corner, recently committed to Alabama. He is ranked as high as the number 55 player and the No. 6 cornerback in the country according to 247Sports. The Lion’s star finished the 2023 season with 32 tackles along with making four interceptions along with 10 pass deflections. Barney helped lead Peachtree Ridge to its best season since the 2009 season, going 10-2 and winning its first playoff game since the 2016 season. Barney will be tasked with shutting down the opposing team’s best wide receivers along with the rest of the elite Lion’s secondary.
Douglas County’s Aaron Gregory is possibly the best wide receiver in the state and is one of the top 2026 wide receivers in the country, being ranked as high as No. 20 in the country and the No. 3 wide receiver according to Rivals. Gregory is coming off a season where he had 795 yards with eight touchdowns. He helped lead the Tigers to an undefeated regular season and a final record of 13-1 and making the semifinals before losing to Woodward Academy. He will be Douglas County’s top receiving target at 7-on-7, creating mismatches with his size and speed and opening opportunities for the other Tigers’ receivers.
CJ Wiley is one of the top receivers in the 2024 class. Standing at 6-4, 195 pounds, he is one of the biggest wideouts the state has seen in some time. Wiley is coming off a massive junior season where he had 1459 yards with 14 touchdowns, a season ranking in the top 25 in receiving yards in state history. He plays for a Milton team that is coming off a 7A state championship and is the favorite to win the 5A state championship this coming season. Wiley will be the top target on a Milton squad with two other 4-star pass catchers. His size and elite route running will create opportunities for him and the other high-end Milton athletes as teams spend more resources to stop Wiley.
Milton’s newest addition, 4-star tight end Ethan Barber, will be another major weapon for the Eagles. Barber, a long time Georgia commit, is one of the top tight ends in the country, being ranked as high as the No. 1 by ESPN. Barbour spent his first three years of high school at Alpharetta High School. He capped off his time there with a monster junior season that saw him catch 49 passes for 966 yards and 12 touchdowns in only 11 games. Barbour has the ability to stretch defenses in ways few tight ends can with his high-end speed and elite route running. He will be a hard cover for even the best defensive backs and nearly impossible for linebackers.
