MaxPreps releases class-by-class All-American teams for high school basketball

The 2023-2024 high school basketball season ended over a month ago, but boys and girls players around the country have continued to be recognized for their play throughout the season.

MaxPreps recently released the All-American teams for each individual class and included are four members from the state of Georgia, with a handful of honorable mentions from the state as well.

Taj Saragba of Woodstock was named to the Freshman First-Team, Moustapha Diop of The Walker School was named to the Sophomore Third-Team, Caleb Wilson of Holy Innocents’ made the Junior First-Team and Jacob Wilkins of Grayson was named to the Junior Second-Team.

Honorable mentions from Georgia included sophomore Kate Harpring of Marist, sophomore Isabella Ragone of Mill Creek, junior Aubrey Beckham of Hebron Christian and Hailee Swain of Holy Innocents’.

Taj Saragba (Woodstock, Freshman First-Team)

A 6-foot-7 forward, Saragba averaged a double-double with 12 points and almost 12 rebounds per game as well. In a very talented Class 6A, Saragba was a huge part of Woodstock’s success in making it to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. He was a rebounding machine for the Wolverines and set records in their program in the rebounding category. He holds the record for most rebounds in a game in school history with 24 and most rebounds in a season with 335. He was selected to the Region 6-6A All-Region First-Team for his play this season. Coming off his first season of high school basketball, Saragba will be a name to watch in the future of Georgia high school boys basketball for the coming years.

Moustapha Diop (The Walker School, Sophomore Third-Team) Diop is rated as the top-player in the state of Georgia for the Class of 2026 recruiting cycle. Standing at 6-foot-10 weighing 215 pounds, Diop shows great size and great skill in the paint. In his sophomore season, Diop averaged over 18 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks a game. This season, Diop played a large role in The Walker School going 20-9 even though the Wolverines ultimately lost in the second round of the Class 2A state championship. The Marietta-native holds offers from five SEC schools including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Missouri and Ole Miss.

Caleb Wilson (Holy Innocents’, Junior First-Team)

Wilson played a huge role in Holy Innocents’ run to the Class 4A state championship game. In his junior season, Wilson averaged more than 20 points, 14 rebounds, close to five assists and blocked four shots a game. At 6-foot-9, Wilson uses his size to his advantage, dominating multiple facets of the game when he is on the court. Wilson is listed as the No. 1 prospect in Georgia in the Class of 2025 and holds offers from many major college basketball programs such as Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama and Auburn. Wilson’s tremendous impact on both ends of the court catapults him to the top of his class with the best programs in the country continuing to recruit him. He is rated as a 5-star across all major recruiting platforms and is the sixth-highest rated player in his class according to 247Sports.

Jacob Wilkins (Grayson, Junior Second-Team)

Wilkins has been committed since October of 2023 to play collegiate basketball at the University of Georgia in the coming years. Wilkins played a huge role in helping the Grayson Rams take home their first state championship in program history in Class 7A. He averaged close to 17 points and 10 rebounds a game during the championship season and led Grayson to a record of 30-2. Wilkins made an impact on the defensive end as well, averaging over two blocks and two steals a game for the Rams, becoming a nightmare for the opposition. Grayson finished fifth in the final MaxPreps Top-25 of the season and defeated one of the top-recruits in the Class of 2024, Ace Bailey, and the McEachern Indians in the Class 7A state championship.
