Phillip Ray scores, but McIntosh runs away with opener

In their return to Class 4A, the Bulldogs opened up the 2008 football season on the road against the McIntosh Chiefs. Phillip Ray scored Forsyth Central’s only touchdown on a 2-yard run late in the first quarter that tied the game at 7-7. McIntosh would go on to score 21 unanswered points to down the Bulldogs 28-7. The Bulldogs will now turn their focus to this Friday’s home opener against Lithonia at 7:30 p.m. … The cross-country teams faced a rain out in their first meet of the year and the results of Tuesday’s meet were not available at press time. Head coach Ryan Payne doesn’t know exactly what to expect from a young squad, but he will get a good idea from Saturday’s Clara Bowl, where his team will face some of the best competition in the state at Berry College. … The volleyball team’s next competition will be on Tuesday, as they take on Southwest DeKalb and Stone Mountain at Southwest DeKalb High School.
