In Class 7A, No. 1 Grayson extended its win-streak to five-straight games and rose to No. 16 in the latest Maxpreps National Rankings. The Rams held off rival Newton 76-70 in overtime last week and then defeated Brookwood (79-57) and Archer (76-47) to improve to 7-0 in Region 4. No. 5 Archer and No. 6 Newton will face on Feb. 2 at Newton and Archer won that previous matchup on Jan. 12 61-54.
In Class 6A, Pope jumped out to a 19-0 lead before cruising past rival Lassiter and moved up to No. 5 in this week’s poll. Lee County shifted up to No. 6 after improving to 18-3 and Hughes slid to No. 9 after dropping to 14-6. Eagle’s Landing replaced Greater Atlanta Christian at No. 8 in Class 5A and Pace Academy reclaimed No. 1 in Class 4A after avenging its previous loss to McDonough. In Class 4A, Benedictine replaced Cherokee Bluff at No. 10 after bouncing back from its last-second loss to rival New Hampstead.
In Class 2A, Westside-Augusta replaced Thomson at No. 1 and Toombs County moved up to No. 4 after improving to 18-2. Additionally, Seminole County (13-5) replaced Jenkins at No. 8 in Class A Division II.
