The Campbell game went well, about as well as expected. Our defense and special teams played well and our young kids held up better than expected, and we escaped the game without any injuries. For some of the young kids, Friday night was their first time getting playing time at the varsity level. For me, it was just nice to have a game not rained out. Our spring game and our scrimmage game against Marist were both lost because of weather, so it was good to finally get one in.
We have North Cobb this week and they are a very good team, despite losing last week to Alpharetta. It is their home opener, so I’m sure their fans will have that stadium rocking. Ironically, North Cobb is our only game this year on grass. If you needed any evidence of how the game has changed in the past few years, that stat is exhibit A: out of 10 high school football games, only one is on a natural grass field. I personally love the fake stuff. It always looks good, you never worry about mud, grass stains, etc (which means your uniforms last longer) and it can rain buckets and you can wait 10 minutes and go out on it. We lose the feel and comfort of the grass, but that is a small price to pay.
