GPB SPORTS CENTRAL: Isaiah Crowell spotlighted on prep sports TV show

For GPB Sports Central Wednesday night:

* An interview with GHSA executive director Ralph Swearngin, who spoke about the role of his organization, the growing popularity of high school sports for both boys and girls, the movement of athletes between high schools and the state football championships at the Georgia Dome.

* Chip Saye of the Georgia High School Football Daily email football newsletter stopped by and talked about the strength of high school football in the state as well as wanting to see the NCAA crack down on colleges recruiting high school athletes at such an early age.

* Reporter Niki Noto did a story on Carver-Columbus running back Isaiah Crowell, who some say may be the best running back in the state since Herschel Walker while host Gil Tyree did a piece on Diamond DeShields, who led Norcross to a Class AAAAA girls basketball championship as a freshman last season but now is tearing it up on the softball field while Jon Nelson did a story on reigning Class A football champion Wilcox County and their highly ranked quarterback Nick Marshall.

* GPB Sports Central also takes a look at the high school football polls, features Falcons running back Michael Turner who talked about his days as a high school player and reporter Ashley Mengwasser, a former Buford cheerleader, dressed up in her old uniform and went to the Calhoun game (Buford beat them in last year’s state championship) and came away with an interesting piece.

* Statewide radio voice Tommy Palmer let’s everyone know what is going on in southern part of the state and feels the best region in Georgia is right there in Class A.

All on GPB Sports Central Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m., Friday night at 11 and Saturday at noon, the encores both with scores from the games Friday night.

    Would love to know a litle more about Hardaway. And the predictions for the Hardway vs Valdosta game tonight.
