The new region alignments were announced Thursday afternoon and will be set for the 2024-26 school years. In Class 6A, Region 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 will have seven teams in each, while Region 7 has eight teams and Region 6 has eight football teams and Innovation Academy. Region 1 will house Camden County, Colquitt County, Effingham County, Richmond Hill, Tift County and Valdosta. In Region 2, Douglas County joins the highest classification and will be with Alexander, Carrollton, Chapel Hill, East Coweta, Paulding County and Westlake. One of the toughest regions in Class 5A will be Region 2 with Coffee, Houston County, Lee County, Northside-Warner Robins, Thomas County Central and Veterans.
Class 4A also grew to 61 total teams and Region 1 stands out with Benedictine, New Hampstead, Perry, Ware County, Warner Robins and Wayne County. Additionally, Region 6-4A will have nine teams—including Blessed Trinity, Cambridge, Centennial, Holy Innocents’, Kell, North Springs, Northview, Pace Academy and Westminster.
