Georgia State adds three to football program

Northeastern transfer Jocquez Fears and junior college standouts Olufemi Opanubi and Kalan Jenkins have joined the Georgia State football program for the spring semester. All three are enrolled at GSU, will participate in spring practice and be available to play next fall.

Fears, a defensive back, comes home to his native state after playing two seasons at Northeastern and will be eligible immediately because the Huskies discontinued their football program. The native of Fairburn, Ga., was an all-region selection at Creekside High in 2007.

Opanubi is a 6-1, 215-pound linebacker from West Los Angeles College, while Jenkins is a 6-5, 245-pound tight end from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. Both have two seasons of eligibility beginning next fall.

Georgia State’s inaugural football season kicks off Sept. 2, 2010 versus Shorter at the Georgia Dome.
