FRIDAY BLOG: Carver vs. LaGrange just one of the big matchups

The Roswell Hornets are looking to win another region title, but they will have to get past a Walton team that is hungry for a win. The Raiders have dropped two consecutive games but if they are able to get a win against the undefeated Hornets, they will all but assure themselves a playoff spot. The game will be on sports radio 790 the Zone.

Another team from Cobb County that is looking to earn a playoff spot is Sprayberry, and they have the daunting task of taking down Hiram at Jim Frazier Stadium. It’s a battle between a great offense and a great defense as Hiram averages 36 points per game while the Yellow Jackets only give up 8.1 points per contest. The winner of the game will clinch the subregion title and will face either Dalton, Northwest Whitfield or Sequoyah in the Region title game next Firday.

Ever since Carver, Columbus lost to Northside, Warner Robins early in the season, the Tigers have won their last five games and now look to clinch the region with a win over LaGrange. If you are in the Columbus area, go A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium because you will see some future college (and possibly NFL) stars in the making. The Tigers are talent-heavy as Devin Burns, Corey Crawford and David Beasley are going to play college football at Maryland next year. Also, running back Isaiah Crowell is considered one of the best junior players in the state.

And let’s not forget the Score Atlanta/GPB Game of the week as undefeated Southwest DeKalb will square off against Tucker at Adams Stadium. The Panther will need to win this game in order to clinch the region title. But they will have to stop the best rushing attack in DeKalb County as Tucker averages about 260 rushing yards-per-game. The game will be streaming live on the GPB website www.gpb.org/football/watch starting at 7:15 p.m.
