The top six teams stay in place in Class AAAAAAA, and Hillgrove moves up to No. 7. South Gwinnett had a mixed week since our last rankings, defeating Newton, which was one spot ahead of the Lady Comets at No. 7, but losing to a .500 Archer team. South Gwinnett stays put and Newton falls to No. 9. North Cobb loses close games to McEachern and Hillgrove but hangs on at No. 10.
The top two of Lovejoy and Winder-Barrow continues to roll in Class AAAAAA. After wins over ranked teams in Tucker and Stephenson, Forest Park jumps Harrison. Tucker and Stephenson both lost twice, but considering each team lost to red-hot Lovejoy and Forest Park, they stay in the middle of the poll. Lanier fell from No. 4 to No. 7 after losing to Dacula.
In Class AAAAA, Arabia Mountain climbed from No. 5 to No. 4 and Ware County jumped Carrollton and Bainbridge to round out the top five. Dutchtown was replaced by Eagle’s Landing at No. 10.
Class AAAA’s top eight did not see any changes since last week’s rankings. Burke County replaced Cross Creek in the poll and makes its debut at No. 9, while Westover slid down one spot to No. 10.
Top-ranked GAC holds down Class AAA again this week with Savannah’s Beach a close second and flawless Franklin County in third. GAC dropped a game against St. Francis on Feb. 3 and will have to regain traction during the region tournament. Beach’s two losses came at the hands of No. 6 Johnson-Savannah, but the rest of its record allows the Bulldogs to stay ranked highly.
Swainsboro moved up to No. 3 following Washington County’s tumble from third to No. 8 following a loss to No. 7 Dodge County. Swainsboro is third, Putnam is fourth and Josey rounds out the top 5 at fifth.
Greenville remains the top team in Class A-Public as they increased their win streak to 16. Telfair launched itself into the No. 2 spot after a solid 58-52 win against Dodge County, giving Dodge its fourth loss on the year. Wheeler County knocked Pelham out of the top three after a 56-45 victory over Calvary Day.
First-ranked Holy Innocents’ solidified its hold on No. 1 with a 69-49 victory over Wesleyan. Wesleyan edged out Calvary Day from the top three with a solid win against Paideia, and after Calvary Day suffered a 56-45 loss to Wheeler County to knock Calvary down to the No. 4 position. Despite their 64-57 loss to second-ranked Collins Hill, St. Francis advanced to the No. 2 spot.
