How the game was won: Cherokee came back from two 21-point deficits—21-0 to start the game and 28-7 at the beginning of the second half—to hit a game-winning 48-yard field goal with 1:06 to play.
Top performers: Cherokee kicker Dima Lynes’s late field goal gave the Warriors the win after Jack Carroll stopped a final Lassiter drive with an interception in Cherokee territory. Cherokee quarterback Noah Donley was 26-of-38 passing for 377 yards and three touchdowns, overcoming three interceptions, two of which were returned for Lassiter touchdowns in the first half. Donley hit Aaron Knowles (70 yds) and Montrell Washington (14 yds) in the third quarter and Demond Ellison (43 yds) to tie the game with six minutes remaining. Carroll scored Cherokee’s first TD on a 1-yard run in the second.
McEachern 45, Marietta 17
How the game was won: McEachern led just 21-10 at halftime but pulled away at Marietta in the second half.
Top performers: Bailey Hockman threw for four touchdowns, hitting EJ Scott for three and Genuine Potts for one. Quay Holmes also rushed for two touchdowns for the Indians. McEachern placekicker Jiovanny Dominguez had a 37-yard field goal. Marietta quarterback Harrison Bailey had a touchdown pass right before halftime.
Walton 34, Etowah 30
How the game was won: Host Walton came back from a 30-14 third-quarter deficit, scoring three straight touchdowns to pull ahead late in the game, including two by Jaelin Bumper in the fourth quarter.
Top performers: Walton quarterback Addison Shoup was 27-of-37 for 347 yards and three touchdowns, including a 47-yard pass to Dominick Blaylock (7 rec, 103 yds) to start the rally in the third quarter and a 40-yard pass to Bumper (10 rec, 141 yds) to take the lead. Shoup also rushed for 39 yards and a 6-yard TD and hit Chandler Smith for a 26-yard TD, both in the second quarter. Bumper pulled Walton to within 30-27 with a 7-yard rushing score. Etowah’s Tyray Devezin led all rushers with 196 yards and a 63-yard touchdown on 27 carries, and Eagles QB Patrick Ferris threw for two touchdowns.
Kell 42, Woodland-Bartow 14
How the game was won: Kell coasted to a 35-0 halftime lead on the road behind three total touchdowns by quarterback John Lampley.
Top performers: Lampley started the scoring with a 5-yard run in the first quarter, and Josiah Futral added a 2-yard rushing score in the period. In the second quarter, Kell got a 25-yard TD pass from Lampley to Jared Hill, a 39-yard pass from Lampley to Michael Luckie and a 62-yard run from Dre Houston. Victor Glover scored the Longhorns’ final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run.
