Countdown to the TOUR Championship presented by PGA TOUR Superstore

Players and fans are preparing for this weekend’s exhilarating display of golf competition at the Barclays in Norton, Massachusetts. Another tournament, another week closer to the TOUR Championship, which is to be held at East Lake, a golf course located in sunny Atlanta.

The top 70 point-holders after this weekend will advance to next weekend’s BMW championships. An exciting stipulation of the tournament is that not only do the top thirty three players as of now automatically advance to the BMW Championships, but anyone within the top seventy that wins a tournament, including any of the tournaments played during the “Chase for the FedEx Cup” automatically moves up into the top five. Thus far, we have seen Heath Slocum surprise millions by winning the Barclays, moving him up to the third place slot; Also, Ernie Els’, a golfer that needs no introduction, finally kicked it in over the weekend and was able to shoot up 36 spots to the 11th place standing. Padraig Harrington had a great few rounds as well and was able to move up to a very respectable 14th. As far as this weekend at the Deutsche Bank Championship, it is apparent that Heath Slocum as well as every other golfer fighting for a top spot this weekend is going to have to keep focused.  Tiger Woods took the title at this course in 2006, and Steve Stricker tied for seventh on the course the same year.  More on the Tournament later this week…
