How the game was won: Alexander ran its perfect record up to 8-0, withstanding 602 yards of total offense from Creekside. The Cougars forced two fumbles and three interceptions to negate the Seminoles’ offensive outburst.
Top Performers: Caden Harris returned a scoop and score touchdown for Alexander. Daetrich Harrington returned the second half kickoff 68 yards for a score and added 102 yards and two touchdowns on 30 rushing attempts. Harrington got involved in the passing game as well, taking a pass 70 yards for a touchdown. Mason Wood finished 15-of-23 for 212 yards and three touchdowns. Justin Hall hauled in 11 catches for 107 yards and one score while adding two carries for 77 yards. Conner Perry caught a 14-yard touchdown.
Woodward Academy 56, Luella 0
How the game was won: Woodward Academy opened up a 21-0 lead in the first quarter with two Ryan Glover touchdown passes and a 7-yard Glover touchdown run. Two Jalen Polk touchdown runs and a 20-yard touchdown run by Tahj Gary in the second quarter grew the lead to 42-0 at the half. Cross Patton added a 4-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Christian Wylder rushed for a 16-yard touchdown with 7:49 left in the game to make it 56-0
Top performers: Ryan Glover tossed touchdown passes to Hunter Falconer and Cade Sutherland and finished the game with 172 passing yards off 10-16 passed to go with his 7-yard touchdown run. Jalen Polk led the War Eagles on the ground with 35 yards off six carries for two touchdowns.
Fellowship Christian 35, Mt. Pisgah 21
How the game was won: Fellowship improved to 8-0 for the second time in school history by overcoming a 14-7 halftime deficit, scoring 28 straight points.
Top performers: Merrick Haigler scored on third-quarter touchdowns of seven and 51 yards to put Fellowship ahead 21-14. Paladins quarterback Jack Hardin scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter, and Andrew Johnson rushed for his second touchdown (6 yds) to put FCS up 35-14. Johnson’s first TD was a 10-yard rush in the first quarter.
Roswell 17, Etowah 14
How the game was won: Sheldon Evans rushed for a late touchdown to help Class 7A No. 1 Roswell stay undefeated and slip by host Etowah.
Top performers: Evans’s 5-yard score was the game-winner, and he also opened the scoring with a 16-yard rush in the first quarter. He finished with 98 yards rushing on 22 attempts with a 20-yard reception. Hornets quarterback Malik Willis had 110 yards rushing on 12 carries and was 16-of-31 passing for 111 yards and an interception. Turner Barckhoff hit a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter for Roswell. For Etowah, Patrick Ferris (14-of-24, 145 yds, 2 TDs, 3 INTs) found Stuart Head for touchdowns of 38 and 11 yards. Tyray Devezin had 83 rushing yards for the Eagles.
