Jarrett Wright opened the second half with a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown and Lambert regained the lead at 21-16. Hamilton answered with his second touchdown pass to Broxton, this one from 35 yards and West Forsyth reclaimed a 24-21 lead with 4:25 left in the third. Will Kohlins scored on a 4-yard run to give the Longhorns a brief 28-24 lead before Luke Lingo returned a tipped pass 53 yards for a Wolverine touchdown with 7:38 remaining. After Gabriel’s touchdown, West Forsyth fumbled in the final seconds.

Sophomore running back Jaylan Thomas found the end zone from 4-yards and led the way with a game-high 30 carries for 214 yards and three scores. Running mate Jarvis Terrell also averaged 7.1 yards per carry off his 14 touches (103 rushing yards) and finished with a pair of touchdowns. Mark Wright passed for an efficient 69 yards and a touchdown to Thomas Culwell off of 5-of-8 passing. In the final minutes, Andy Smith stepped in at quarterback and connected with Chris Moore on fourth down for a 34-yard gain, the Trojans longest play from scrimmage.

While Carrollton chipped away at the Tigers defense the final three quarters, Troup’s success came solely from explosive plays. Mess Bonner ran in a 40-yard touchdown in the second quarter that answered Carrollton’s first score and later caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Dextreion Shealey in the third quarter that cut the lead to 28-14. Troup drove down to the Carrollton 13-yard line with a chance to make it a one-score game, but turned it over on downs and the Trojans finished the game with Terrell and Thomas touchdown runs as the offense controlled time of possession for 9:06 of the game’s final 12 minutes. Troup finished just 1-of-8 on third down conversions and was 0-for-2 on fourth downs.
