Houston County made the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons last year with a 7-4 record and has opened 2014 with a pair of lopsided victories. A 46-27 win over Veterans was followed with a 41-10 performance over Grovetown last Friday. Zachary Taisler, a linebacker for Houston County, has contributed on the football field while dedicating his time to helping others. Taisler is this week’s Atlanta Falcons Captain in the Community Presented by Ford.
Taisler discovered his passion for helping others at a young age and used the game he loves to make a difference. During spring break, Taisler went on a mission trip to Costa Rica and led a football camp for orphans. Taisler volunteers throughout the Warner Robins community and provides lawn service for the elderly. Taisler is a Class of 2015 commit to Kennesaw State University.
The Captain in the Community program recognizes outstanding high school football student-athletes around the state of Georgia that demonstrate strong leadership skills both on-and-off the field. Winners are selected by USA Football, the Official Youth Football Development Partner of the NFL. Additionally, each winner’s high school will receive a grant in the amount of $1,000 to support community initiatives courtesy of the Atlanta Falcons and the NFL’s Youth Football Fund.
