After being turned down by Missouri’s Mike Anderson, University of Georgia AD Damon Evans found his new men’s basketball coach in Nevada’s Mark Fox. The coach confirmed to ESPN late yesterday that he will be named at a press conference Friday afternoon. Fox comes to Georgia after spending five seasons on the bench with the Wolf Pack, taking Nevada to three NCAA tournament appearances, and is a three-time WAC coach of the year. Last season Fox went 21-13 and lost in the WAC championship game. His record in five seasons stands at 123-43.
If you were planning on making it out to the first Gwinnett Braves game, unless you have a ticket you are out of luck. The team announced that its first game on April 17 has sold out. The tickets sold out in less than one day, but tickets still remain for games on that Saturday and Sunday.
Though the former star QB is not scheduled to take the stand until this morning, Michael Vick’s attorneys testified in a bankruptcy court Thursday and told a judge that the former Falcon is planning on taking a construction job upon his release. The job would pay $10/hour and Vick would work 40 hours per week, after starring in a documentary about himself which would pay the QB $600,000. Vick and his attorneys are also hopeful that he will return to the NFL gridiron in September. Friday Vick told the courtroom that he “could not live with the old Mike Vick.” He noted that prison has given him time to think and he hopes Roger Goodell will reinstate him into the NFL.
Finally, LSU is ready to invade Foley Field starting today for a three game series against the No.1 Georgia Bulldogs baseball team. LSU is in the middle of a tough three week stretch and Tigers coach Paul Mainieri believes the series will be fun for the coaches and the players. The Dogs have won seven straight league games after losing its first two to Alabama. Georgia has won five straight overall.
