Tripp Allen will take over the same position at Carrollton High School after serving as Walton’s offensive coordinator for 15 seasons . Allen replaces former Carrollton offensive coordinator Joey King, who now serves as head coach at Cartersville. Allen is a 3-time Cobb County Offensive Coach of the Year (2003, 2007, 2011).
Allen began his coaching career at Carrollton straight out of graduating from West Georgia. The young coach met then-defensive coordinator Ed Dudley, who took over Carrollton’s head coaching job this offseason (Feb. 25). Dudley, who would coach at Buford, Walton and Ware County after his time as an assistant beat out over 200 candidates for the job. Allen served as Dudley’s offensive coordinator at Walton High School from 1999-2009 when Dudley left for Ware County.
Tripp Allen relayed this statement Thursday morning:
“It’s been a very difficult decision. Walton has been a big part of my life for the last 15 years and people have been very good to me and we have been fortunate to have a lot of good teams. My time at Walton have been the best years if my life both personally and professionally . I will sincerely miss this place . The opportunity to go work with coach Dudley again and coach at a program like Carrollton is very attractive to me. I look forward to the new challenge and opportunity.”
