The DeKalb County Championships concluded on Tuesday at Panthersville Stadium. For the girls Miller Grove took first place with a score of 119. Redan came in second place with 71 points and Arabia Mountain came in third place with 56 points.
For Miller Grove, Tiffany Flynn and Pauline Arndt came in first and second place in the long jump, respectively. Flynn also won the triple jump, which took place on
Saturday. The Wolverines also took first and second place in the 4×100 meter relay. The A Team took first place and the B Team took second place.
Flynn and Arndt also fared well in the track department as they both finished in the Top four in the 100-meter hurdles. Flynn came in first place with a time of 14.29 and Arndt came in fourth with a time of 15.29. Tatiyana Caffey won the 800-meter run for Miller Grove with a time of 2:20.
For the boys, Stephenson edged Lakeside-DeKalb for the top spot, scoring 102 points. Lakeside scored 92 points and Cedar Grove came in third with 72.5. Some of the top winners for Stephenson include Denzel Harper and Cameron Glenn. Harper won the 110-meter hurdles, came in second in the 300-meter hurdles and came in second in the long jump. Glenn won the 300-meter hurdles, came in third in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the long jump.
Both Westlake boys and girls teams won the Fulton County Track and Field Championships, which ended on Monday. The Girls scored 173 points and the boys scored 143 points.
For the Westlake girls, Aubree Collins came in second place in the 800-meter run while Osja Glenn came in fourth place in the discus throw. Anriel Howard won the high jump and Mia Phillips won the long jump. Kayla Stinson won the triple jump and Kevia Gonzales won the 100-meter dash with a blazing tome of 12.19.
Joseph Woodbury won the high jump for Westlake while Kenneth Luster came in third place in the long jump.
Also for the boys, Rashaad Pollard won the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, Luster won the 110-meter hurdles and Quran Hasan won the 300-meter hurdles.
Hello Mr Jones I am concerned maybe it’s a type-o but my daughter Kevia Gonzales ran in the Fulton County Championship meet won the 100 meter dash I noticed that her name wasn’t mentioned in the articles of winners.I’m sure she would like to see her name mentioned for all the hard work and dedication she have done.
