Auburn-commit expected to see full recovery without surgery

Tyler Queen and his father/North Cobb head coach Shane Queen visited Pensacola, Fla. on Monday to meet with Auburn team doctor Dr. James Andrews. Tyler had damaged his UCL pitching for North Cobb’s baseball team on March 14, and the family was waiting to see if Tyler would require Tommy John surgery to fix the injury. After driving more than 340 miles Monday morning and waiting more than a week after the injury, the medical staff determined a surgery would not be necessary for the partial tear.

According to the elder Queen, Tyler will be shut down from throwing for 5-6 weeks in order to heal the injury. He will be able to take part in light throwing sessions in May and is expected to be completely healed by the end of summer. This was the best-case scenario that the family and North Cobb and Auburn fans were hoping for. Tyler has started for North Cobb since a freshman and has guided the Warriors to a combined 20 wins the past two seasons, the best two-year streak in school history.
