Tennessee head coach Pat Summitt recorded her 1,000th career victory Thursday night, as the No. 17-ranked Lady Volunteers defeated Georgia, 73-43. Summitt’s total is the most in NCAA history, men’s or women’s.
The matchup was broadcast on Fox Sports South and had sold more than 14,000 tickets by Wednesday, according to Tennessee.
Lady Vols forward Glory Johnson led all scorers with 20 points. Christy Marshall was Georgia’s top scorer with 16.
