PLANK WALKS: Force head coach takes job with NFL’s New York Jets

Georgia Force head coach Doug Plank has been hired as defensive backs coach by the New York Jets. Current Jets head coach Rex Ryan is the son of legendary defensive coach Buddy Ryan, who coached Plank, a safety, as a member of the Chicago Bears.

Plank was head coach of the Force in 2005 and from 2007-08, and had served as a roving assistant coach with the Falcons since last summer. Plank was named AFL Coach of the Year in 2005 after leading the Force to the Arena Bowl.
