Elite Junior: Brad Stewart

Benedictine Military School

Brad Stewart generally does it all for Benedictine, which reached the semifinals of the Class AA playoffs before losing to Lamar County on a last-season. Stewart played almost every down of every game during the season, either at wide receiver, defensive back, or returning kicks and punts on special teams. He hauled in 30 passes for more than 700 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Marshall University has already offered Stewart a scholarship and a lot more appear to be forthcoming. Among the schools pursuing him are several of the more notable Division-1 variety: Auburn, Missouri, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. Over the summer, Stewart attended football camps at Vanderbilt, Clemson, Georgia and Georgia Tech.

Stewart is a three-sport athlete, also starring in baseball and basketball for varsity teams at Benedictine since his freshman year. His takes all honors and AP courses, his GPA is well over 4.0 and he is the president of the high school’s student council.

“My career aspiration is to be to play a sport at the collegiate level for a big D-1 school while getting a great education in engineering,” Stewart explained.

He also does volunteer work through Savannah Hospice. Along with his younger brother and sister, Stewart makes special gifts and cards for people that are in the hospice system. Their elementary school, St. James, gave them the opportunity to connect with a family in the midst of serious health challenges and the Stewarts accepted with honor.

“It is a privilege and honor to help people in need and try to lift their spirits while going through terminal illnesses,” Stewart said. “We have found that not only does it help others but it brings us closer as a family. I get to spend much-needed time with my family and help others at same time. It has truly been a blessing both ways.”
