Gordon Dudley is the starting tight end for Ware County High School. At six-feet tall and 200 pounds, Gordon is a pain to deal with on defense whether he is running routes or pancaking defenders.
Although Gordon has not been in contact with any schools as far as recruiting goes, he is sure to bring attention as his role on Ware County’s offense becomes more important. As a junior, Gordon has already shown leadership on the field and in the gym. Gordon works hard to improve his ability and lifts weights on a regular schedule.
“Right now my bench max is 315, I squat 405 and power clean 260.” Gordon said.
Gordon has been active in his community as well. “I actually have done some volunteer work,” Gordon said. “It was for Charlie’s Missionary. What we did was just give food to the homeless. I think we fed about 1,200 people that morning.”
Football is a full-time job, but Gordon still finds the time to maintain a 3.7 GPA. In addition to his work in the classroom, he is the vice president of the student council at Ware County. This is appealing to any college, and he’ll show them what he can do on the field when he attends some camps this summer.
“I’m planning on visiting Georgia Tech, Mercer, Georgia Southern, Furman and Elon.”
As far as his future goes, Gordon is very clear on what he’s working towards.
“I would love to be an all-state player by my senior season then play in college,” Gordon explained. “I think after college I would like to follow in the steps of my dad and coach high school football.”
Those would be some big shoes to fill, as his father Ed has a 172-74 overall record and has taken 15 teams to the playoffs at Buford, Walton and Ware County. Dudley’s Gators are now in the second round of the Class AAAAA playoffs and will take on Northside-Warren Robins Friday.
