Washington County edged Lovett in one of the more interesting games of the season so far, while Archer, Collins Hill and Etowah kept their perfect seasons in tact.

Class AAAAAA
Archer 45, Shiloh 16: Archer improved to 6-0, its best start in school history. Gabe Tiller threw three touchdown passes, all in the first half and two of which came from at least 48 yards. Dylan Singleton had a 1-yard touchdown run and a 75-yard interception return for a score to lead the visiting Tigers, who surged to a 42-13 halftime lead.
Camden County 28, Coffee 21: Tyler Rawls scored on a 10-yard run with 17 seconds left to give visiting Camden County the win. Quarterback Dalton Sikes scored on a 1-yard sneak and threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Johnson for Camden County, and Antonio Wimbush started off the Wildcats’ scoring with a 5-yard touchdown.
Dacula 21, Brookwood 7: Dacula’s Lawson Cook capped off the scoring with an interception return for a touchdown to preserve his team’s win over visiting Brookwood. The Falcons also got a scoring pass from Aaron Grove to Kelan Fraise and Jakob Brashear added a touchdown run as they raced to a 14-0 lead. Brookwood scored late in the second quarter to make it 14-7 at half but the Broncos could not get any closer.
Grayson 27, Central Gwinnett 19: Visiting Grayson opened the scoring with a 28-yard Cameryn Brent touchdown run, but Central Gwinnett answered and held a 13-7 halftime advantage. Bryant added his second rushing score of the game in the third quarter and Aares McCall iced the game with a 27-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Harrison 38, Kennesaw Mountain 7: Senior Keegan Karim returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Harrison’s win over its cross-town foe improved its record to 4-2 and 3-1 in Region 4-AAAAAA. In contrast, Kennesaw Mountain falls to 1-4 and is winless in league play at 0-4.
Hillgrove 35, Pebblebrook 21: Richardre Bagley rushed 25 times for 219 yards and two touchdowns to lead Hillgrove, which led 28-0 at halftime. Elijah Ironside added touchdown passes to Omar Black and Zack Katz for the visiting Hawks. Pebblebrook quarterback Dezmon Huntley threw scoring strikes to Jarvis Ruff and Justin Sims in addition to a touchdown on the ground.
Lovejoy 23, Rockdale County 3: Khaleel Rogers connected with Preston Williams for a 59-yard touchdown pass to give visiting Lovejoy a 7-0 lead. Lovejoy kicker Jaime Nunez added 35- and 38-yard field goals in the second quarter to give the Wildcats their 13-3 halftime lead. In the third quarter, Nunez extended the lead again with a 46-yard boot.
Lowndes 38, Brunswick 30: Lowndes never trailed, but had to stave off a Brunswick rally in order to preserve its road victory. Malik Roberts caught two first-half touchdowns to help the Vikings lead 21-8 at the intermission. Following an interception, Brunswick found the endzone and pulled within 31-30 in the fourth quarter. The Pirates got the ball back trailing by one point, but Eric Hart of Lowndes returned an interception for a touchdown to ice the game.
Luella 37, Druid Hills 0: The visiting Lions had their way versus Druid Hills. Trevone Sullivan rushed for one score and caught another in the lopsided win. Quad Clemmons, Josh White and Steve Osondu, who blocked a punt and scooped up the ball, all added touchdowns. Luella evens its mark at 3-3. Druid Hills drops to 2-3.
Mill Creek 47, Meadowcreek 0: Carter Governale ran in the first of six rushing touchdowns for host Mill Creek. DeVozea Fulton found the endzone on a 45-yard score. Quarterback Daniel David got in on the action with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Eric Ritland before the half and Jordan Sylvain and Evens Fontaine added second-half rushing touchdowns for the Hawks.
Norcross 49, Habersham Central 3: Host Habersham Central opened with a 3-0 lead after Juan Domingo’s 24-yard field goal. Norcross responded with 49 unanswered points, including a pair of Josh Boyd touchdowns in the second quarter. Boyd tossed a touchdown pass to Clinton Lynch in the third quarter and KaDarius Garrett ran in two scores in the final quarter.
North Gwinnett 52, Duluth 21: Quarterback Hayden Sphire threw for four touchdowns, two to Nate Brown, and running back C.J. Leggett ran for three scores for visiting North Gwinnett. Quarterback Thad Bell of Duluth had three touchdown passes. North Gwinnett led just 17-13 at halftime. Both teams had 15 penalties for a combined 395 yards.
Roswell 21, Wheeler 19: Roswell scored all of its points in the first half when the Hornets took a 21-9 lead into the intermission. Shakur Jackson (8 yards), Sheldon Evans (45 yards) and Mechane Slade (8 yards) each had rushing touchdowns. The visiting Hornets held off Wheeler by thwarting a potential game-tying two-point conversion attempt late in the fourth quarter.
Class AAAAA
Gainesville 51, Cedar Shoals 6: The Red Elephants played host to the Jaguars and ran out to a 30-0 halftime lead. Deshaun Watson had a big first half with three touchdown passes and an impressive 63-yard touchdown run. He also added another touchdown in the third. Michael Byrd added the other two touchdowns on the ground with a 15-yard run and a 1-yard plunge.
Heritage-Conyers 23, Winder-Barrow 13: Austin Kulp kicked three field goals (30, 35 and 38 yards) to lift the Patriots to victory. Running back C.J. Stone was also impressive, rushing for two scores. Heritage improves to 4-2 and 3-1 in Region 8-AAAAA. The Bulldogs have now lost four in a row.
Kell 30, Riverwood 14: Four different Longhorns players reached the end zone to pace to victory. Dyllen Reed and Jay Moxey recorded 3-yard touchdown run, respectively. Quarterback Matt McGuigan completed a 6-yard strike to Taylor Henkle and Errol Breaux had a 65-yard kickoff return for a score.
Northside-Warner Robins 42, Houston County 10: Glenn Smith ran for three touchdowns and passed for one more out of the backfield as Northside rolled over Houston County. Willie Jordan had 10 receptions for 118 yards and he hauled in a 34-yard scoring strike from Smith. The host Eagles also got 73 passing yards from quarterback Marcus Ivory, who hit Arlie Weber for a touchdown.
Rome 36, Paulding County 20: Rome’s Richard Sullivan returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown and Devantea Mallet added a touchdown pass to Jairus Creamer before Frank Griffin eventually capped off a 22-point second quarter for the visiting Wolves. Myron Washington and Frank Griffin iced the game in the second half with 66 and 77-yard touchdown runs, respectively.
Union Grove 16, Ola 14: Caleb Ham returned an interception for 60 yards and a touchdown to put the visiting Wolverines ahead 7-0 in the first quarter. However, Ola came back to lead 14-7 in the third quarter, but Union Grove’s Sean Davis kicked a 30-yard field goal and Chad Reaves rushed for a touchdown from 14 yards out midway through the fourth. Demetrius Jackson intercepted the Mustangs on the following drive.
Whitewater 17, Northgate 6: Christian Wofford rushed for more than 200 yards and he also scored two touchdowns on the ground for visiting Northgate. Northgate answered a second-quarter Whitewater touchdown with a score of its own, but it missed the extra point to trail 7-6 at halftime. Liam Klim added a 21-yard field goal for Whitewater.
Class AAAA
Carrollton 52, Fayette County 14: Eight Carrollton rushers combined to gain 246 yards and five touchdowns on the ground as the host Trojans rolled. The Trojans led 35-7 at the half. Trey Chivers ran for 63 yards and Will Garrett had 62 to lead Carrollton. Garrett as 6 for 9 passing for 83 yards and one score.
Chestatee 48, Johnson-Gainesville 7: The visiting War Eagles scored 35 points in the second quarter to take control of a scoreless game. The War Eagles did most of their damage on the ground with five rushing touchdowns from four different players. Blake Buffington had two scores from two yards and 17 yards. Cody Humphries and Khalil Cantrell each returned fumbles for touchdowns in the first half.
Jonesboro 28, North Clayton 0: The host Cardinals used a strong defensive effort to outlast North Clayton. Quarterback Romario Atkinson lead the offense and threw for two touchdowns. The first went 35 yards to Saleem Veree and the other went 26 yards to Jyair Mincey. Artemus Mitchell opened the second half by returning the kickoff for touchdown spanning 80 yards.
Sandy Creek 21, Troup 0: Visiting Troup held the Patriots scoreless in the opening quarter, but Sandy Creek’s Delvin Weems opened the scoring on a 7-yard touchdown run in the second. Cole Garvin found Demarre Kitt minutes later for a 60-yard touchdown pass and Sandy Creek took a 14-0 lead into the half. Eric Swinney added a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Class AAA
B. E. S. T. Academy 41, Haralson County 7: The visiting Eagles were able to pull away in the second half after a 14-0 halftime lead. Deshawn Waller had three touchdowns on eight carries and 171 yards. As a team, the Eagles rushed the ball for 322 yards on 25 carries and six scores. Maleke Smith and Darius Marshall each tallied 12 tackles to lead the defense.
Buford 63, West Hall 0: Visiting Buford rushed for 247 yards and three quarterbacks combined for 251 yards passing, with Taylor Mitchell throwing touchdown passes to Josh Thomas (84 yards) and David Curry (32 yards) in the first half. Thomas also returned a fumble 31 yards for a score at linebacker. Thomas Wilson kicked off the scoring for Buford with a 14-yard touchdown run.
Cartersville 76, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 13: Visiting Cartersville jumped out to a 69-0 lead at the half and was paced by quarterback Brooks Barden’s five passing touchdowns and two rushing scores. Mark Quattlebaum caught two scores and T.L. Ford, Gordon Gray and Terrius Callahan each added touchdown receptions. Running backs Kalin Heath and Tiamon Pennymon added rushing touchdowns in the rout.
North Hall 56, East Hall 31: The visiting Vikings were unable to contain the rushing attack from North Hall. The Trojans amassed over 500 yards of total offense. Quarterback Andrew Smith threw for one score and ran for touchdowns of 14 and 79 yards. Will Cape added a 40-yard touchdown and Brannon Dyer scored from 89 yards out. Zac Little scored three touchdowns from 9, 24 and 55 yards.
St. Pius X 38, McNair 7: The running back duo of Dalton Wilson and Nick Ruffin pounded its way through McNair’s defense, as Walton rushed for 52 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown and Ruffin added 44 yards with two scores. St. Pius X improved to 5-1 while McNair dropped to 1-4.
Washington County 36, Lovett 33 (OT): A battle of 5-0 teams saw Washington County beat Lovett in overtime on a 28-yard field goal by Jed May. The visiting Golden Hawks were led by running back Malik Jackson, who rushed 19 times for 204 yards and three touchdowns. They finished with 425 rushing yards, in part thanks to a 140-yard effort on 18 carries by A.J. Gray.
Playing with Jack Stevenson at quarterback filling in for injured starter Willie Candler, Lovett led most of the way. The Lions opened the scoring with a 21-yard run by Grant Haley early in the first quarter and Stevenson threw touchdowns to Jonathan Thomas and Will Geraghty en route to 33-31 fourth-quarter advantage. Washington County answered with scoring runs by Jackson, but both extra points failed—including the final attempt with the score tied 33-33 with 3:32 remaining.
Lovett started the extra frame on offense but only moved backwards from the 15-yard line and was ultimately stopped on 4th-and-20. That set the stage for May’s game-winner.
Class AA
Greater Atlanta Christian 56, Thomson 12: Quarterback Rafe Chapple was 10 of 21 passing for 253 yards and two touchdowns as Greater Atlanta Christian won on the road at Thomson. Micah Abernathy rushed eight times for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Chris Williams caught five passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns and Justin Phan caught one touchdown pass.
Wesleyan 28, Lakeview Academy 7: Host Wesleyan broke a 7-7 halftime tie with three third-quarter touchdowns. Running back Ollis Robinson rushed for 94 on 10 carries and scored a touchdown while quarterback Christian Stark was 5 for 5 for 105 yards and a touchdown to lift the Wolves to their first victory of the season. Lakeview Academy remains winless in 2013.
Class A
Fellowship Christian 38, Whitefield Academy 33: Host Fellowship Christian’s running back Travis Kinney had two touchdowns in the first half. Fellowship Christian quarterback Hunter Bryant had 247 passing yards in the first. Bryant had a 71-yard touchdown pass to Taylor Cookston in the first half and a 31-yard touchdown pass to Alex Edmonds in the third.
George Walton Academy 50, Hebron Christian 20: Host George Walton Academy saw running back Stanley Williams score a 22-yard touchdown in the first quarter and a 84-yard touchdown in the second. George Walton quarterback Tucker Shull competed a 71-yard touchdown pass to Demetrios Mason. Mason also had a 37-yard touchdown rush in the third.
Holy Innocents’ 55, Mount Vernon 0: Quarterback Luke Wright, who only played during the first half, completed 4 of 5 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Wright also recorded a rushing touchdown. The win snapped the Golden Bears’ three-game losing streak, improving their record to 3-3.
Landmark Christian 17, Our Lady of Mercy 13: The War Eagles remained undefeated at 6-0 after edging the visiting Bobcats. Trailing 13-10 in the fourth quarter, running back Darius Smith ran it in from 21 yards. Our Lady of Mercy falls to 1-4 on the season.
Mount Pisgah 47, Walker 0: Hosting Mount Pisgah started the game with a 95-yard kick return for a touchdown by Browning Dunn. Quarterback Aaron Winchester went 10 for 13 for 143 yards and two touchdowns while backup Jacob Delk had a 49-yard touchdown pass and also had two interceptions on defense. Kicker Chase Clark kicked two 34-yard field goals.
Pace Academy 40, Strong Rock Christian 0: Quarterback Kevin Johnson threw for 209 yards on 14 of 19 passing with four touchdowns. Wide receiver Kameron Uter caught five balls for 80 yards with two touchdowns. Fellow wide outs Spencer Hemmingway and Denzel Franklin also grabbed touchdown passes.
