Memphis University (Tenn.) 26, South Panola (Miss.) 9: At the half, South Panola had outgained Memphis University 184-84 in total yardage, including a lopsided 105-to-3 advantage in rushing. However, Owls quarterback James Sexton was an efficient 6-of-9 passing for 73 yards and a touchdown and Memphis University held a 10-3 lead at the half. South Panola running back Darrell Henderson was held to 65 yards rushing with a long of 24 through in the first half, and scored the Tigers’ only touchdown on a 28-yard fourth quarter run. Colton Neel was the difference-maker and finished the game with 150 total yards (97 rushing, 53 receiving) and three touchdowns.
Peachtree Ridge (Ga.) 31, Mill Creek (Ga.) 30: Visiting Peachtree Ridge opened the scoring on a 2-yard Jordan Ellis touchdown run, but Mill Creek answered with a Daniel David touchdown and two Carter Governale rushing scores. After a muffed Mill Creek punt, Ellis scored his third touchdown of the night and gave the Lions a 31-24 lead. Mill Creek’s Daniel David found DeVozea Felton for a potential game-tying touchdown with 1:39 left, but the Hawks missed the point after and Peachtree Ridge ran out the clock.
Cardinal Gibbons (Fla.) 30, Boyd Anderson (Fla.) 0: Visiting Cardinal Gibbons moved to 4-0 and recorded its third shutout of the season. Senior Luke Niles returned an interception for a touchdown, giving the Chiefs’ an early 7-0 lead. Cardinal Gibbons quarterback Peyton Bender was efficient all game and completed 16 of 24 passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Bender tossed two of the touchdowns to George Rushing and his final score went to Christian Blake. Deon McIntosh had 151 yards on just eight carries.
Hoover (Ala.) 56, Northridge (Ala.) 14: Jack Hutcheson threw touchdown passes to Bradrick Shaw and Kristopher Parker and added a pair of touchdown runs to give Hoover an early 28-0 lead. Northridge’s Charles Hurst scored an 80-yard touchdown run and Ke’Vondraius Hughes intercepted Hutcheson, but Hoover answered with a Brooks Bennett interception to silence the Jaguars. Wideout Justin Johnson paced Hoover with 122 yards receiving on six receptions with two scores and Hutcheson finished the game 11 of 16 passing for 195-yards and three touchdowns.
Miramar (Fla.) 22, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) 20: Miramar topped St. Thomas Aquinas for the third straight year. The Miramar defense suffocated the Raiders and sacked quarterback Wade Freebeck five times. Senior tailbacks Eric Pittman and Cameron Rigby powered Miramar to come back from its 20-13 deficit as Miramar entered the fourth quarter and Rigby punched in the final touchdown to stun host St. Thomas Aquinas.
