Northwestern (S.C.) 38, Charlotte Catholic (N.C.) 17: Host Charlotte Catholic saw running back Elijah Hood set the Mecklenberg County rushing record after he ran for 138 yards. His efforts could not pull the team to a win as they fell to Northwestern.
Brandon (MS) 10, Pearl 2 (MS): Pearl and Brandon had a defensive battle Friday night that ended in a win for host Brandon. The only touchdown in the contest was a 15-yard pass from Brandon’s Gardner to Greg Brassfield.
Hillgrove (GA) 47, Walton (GA) 35: The Hawks amassed 547 yards of total yardage. Hillgrove quarterback Elijah Ironside threw five touchdown passes, including two to his favorite target, Justin Denton. Walton quarterback Price Wilson was 23-of-48 passing for 284 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.
Oakland (TN) 22, White Station (TN) 8: Oakland’s defense gave up just 149 yards of total offense, and White Station had just 50 yards in the first half. Darryle Hood Jr. and Fred Wade both rushed for 135 yards out of the Oakland backfield.
Miami-Central (FL) 42, American Heritage (FL) 20: Visiting Miami-Central posted six touchdowns all from stars Joseph Yearby and Dalvin Cook. They accounted for 380 yards on only 24 carries. American Heritage scored a 55-yard touchdown and Torrance Gibson ran for an 80-yard touchdown.
Hoover (AL) 24, Colquitt County (GA) 10: Hoover rallied and scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to grab the win over visiting Colquitt County. The Buccaneers’ first-year starter Jack Hutcheson completed two second-half touchdowns. Hoover had 11 of its 15 first downs after halftime and also 248 of its 349 total yards.
Picayune (MS) 58, Petal (MS) 61: Petal running back Tyus Raine rushed for 334 yards and six scores, but Picayune scored on every offensive possession but two. Visiting Picayune led 30-25 at the half and scored 29 points in the fourth quarter. Preston Dedeaux of the Maroon Tide rushed 35 times for 283 yards and two scores.
