Mark Richt and his staff have steadily set a blazing trail in recruiting, especially in the month of June. The Bulldogs are trying to set a precedent for the 2014 class by recruiting top talent hard and early on.
In April, many football fanatics throughout the country were surprised when running back Sony Michel from South Florida committed to the Dawgs in April. Many experts and fans had their bets on Michel going to Miami, considering he rooted for the Hurricanes as a youngster.
SUDDEN SURGE …
The Bulldogs’ recruiting has really taken off in the month of June. The Dawgs have accounted for three more four-star recruits in the matter of days. The three new UGA commits consist of running back Nick Chubb, defensive back Malkom Parrish and quarterback Jacob Park.
Chubb, at 5-foot-11, 218 pounds, led the entire state of Georgia in rushing yards as a junior, accounted for a ridiculous 2,700 yards rushing and scored a whopping total of 38 touchdowns in only 10 games.
Parrish, stands at 5-foot-9, 189 pounds, and is on ESPN’s Top 150 list. He is also a U.S. Army All-American. Parrish is a versatile athlete and playmaker that will bring plenty of excitement to the Bulldogs’ secondary.
Park flashes the arm strength needed to make the tough throws against SEC defenses and is also nimble enough to make things happen with his feet.
Georgia has now amassed a total of 10 commitments thus far in the 2014 class. Half of the class is packed with four-star recruits which bodes well for the Dawgs’ future outlook. Sony Michel headlines the class as its lone five-star recruit. Georgia still has its eye set on multiple five-star players like defensive tackle Lamont Gaillard, a 6-foot-4 300-pound behemoth who would fit like a glove in the Dawgs’ 3-4 defensive scheme.
