Walton starting quarterback Price Wilson committed to Louisiana Tech today. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound quarterback also received offers from Buffalo, Charlotte, Eastern Kentucky and FIU. Wilson established himself in the recruiting scene when he stepped in last year as a junior after starter Parker McLeod, now with Alabama, suffered an ankle injury. Under the leadership of Wilson, the Raiders went 4-1 with their only loss to No. 1-ranked Lassiter. Wilson threw for 598 yards in the starts, while helping the banged up Raiders into the playoffs.

Wilson visited Louisiana Tech Sunday and was looking for a school that would utilize his strong arm and pin-point accuracy. In offseason camps, the pro-style quarterback has been outstanding and went throw for throw with big names like Clemson-commit Deshaun Watson. The improvement and understanding of footwork as a quarterback is something Wilson demonstrates beyond his years. Wilson’s response to pressure as he entered his first game as a starter in place of McLeod built instant confidence that he has used to continue sharpening his skill set.

“I knew I was ready to step in and just take charge,” said Wilson, “I felt like the team knew that I was ready too, so it helped.”

Wilson is preparing for the upcoming season by attending multiple camps this summer and participating in the George B. Maloof 7-on-7 Invitational today at St. Pius X.

Although Wilson has only started in a partial season, he is using his busy offseason schedule and the playing time he saw last year to help him approach each day with confidence.

“It gives me a little more experience, just going in and knowing what I’m going to expect just helps me out for this coming year.”

Perhaps the biggest relief besides committing is that now Wilson can focus entirely on the Raiders’ upcoming season.
