It was a close call for the defending GHSA gymnastics champions at the Colquitt County Packers Gymnastics Spring Spectacular Meet. Tift County was without one of the state’s top gymnasts in Libby Barbour, but Beth Roberts carried the Blue Devils to a 107.9-107.85 win over Lowndes. Roberts took first in floor, beam, vault and bars en route to the all-around title. Tatum Lamb finished second on floor and bars to go with a pair of fifth-place finishes on vault and beam. She was fourth in the all-around for Tift County. Lowndes’ Aubrea Callanta and Taylor Eakin finished second and third, respectively. Tift County received contributions from Jayde Coward (vault), Kymber Fletcher (vault), Bryanna McInvale (vault, bars), Laken Barnes (bars) and Kate Anderson (beam). Courtney Coleman did not compete due to an injury. … Lovett hosted Pace Academy and Westminster last Wednesday and the Wildcats of Westminster cruised to an easy victory. Westminster scored a 101.5 as a team to beat No. 2 Pace Academy, who scored 84.2. Lovett finished third with a team score of 79.2. Westminster will host Pace Academy, Buford and Sequoyah this Wednesday
