Men’s basketball hangs on against Eastern Michigan

After rallying from a 53-42 second-half deficit, Georgia held on in the game’s final seconds to get a 61-60 win over Eastern Michigan, its second basketball win of the season and its first in the NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament. Corey Butler led the Bulldogs with 12 points and freshman point guard Dustin Ware had 11. Ware was a key contributor, hitting several clutch shots and finding open teammates, as he played alongside starting point guard Zac Swansey. The Eagles had the ball for the game’s last possession, but could not get a shot off as time expired. Before falling behind in the second half, Georgia (2-1) led 32-30 at halftime. Terrance Woodbury scored all 11 of his points in the first half, helping Georgia take the lead at the break. The win came less than 24 hours after the Bulldogs fell to Loyola of Chicago 74-53. Georgia will next host Presbyterian on Friday at 7:30 p.m., before resuming play in the consolation bracket of the NIT Season Tip-Off on Monday.
