Reiser earns postseason honors; football prevails over Duluth

Although the volleyball team’s season ended a little earlier then most had hoped, the team wasn’t without a few accolades to end the season. Setter Emily Reiser was named to the 2008 Volleyball All-Star team last week. Reiser averaged 8.7 assists per game and finished the season with 29 aces. … It was an upbeat end to the season for the Cougar football team, winning over Duluth 21-14. Brendan Cross threw for a touchdown along with running for one on the night. He finished the year with 1,658 yards passing and 16 passing touchdowns along with 568 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. Wide receiver Kevin Martin also finished the year with fantastic numbers, piling up over 1,300 yards in receptions and return yards for the season. A week earlier, the team was unable to win its second in a row, losing to North Forsyth 31-27 on Oct. 31. … The cross country teams ran at the Region 7-AAAAA Championship meet on Nov. 1. Each team finished fifth overall. Sydney Marshall of the girls team finished fourth individually.
