‘Cats look for first win of season over Centennial

Getting that first win is always tough for a struggling football team, and for the Wheeler Wildcats, it has not come yet. They fell to the Kell Longhorns 35-7 on Oct. 24 to make their record 0-8 for the year. They looked to have better luck against a struggling Campbell team, but they lost 7-6 for their ninth loss of the year. Running back Chris Allen scored a touchdown in the second quarter, however, kicker Jonathan Osorio missed the extra point. The missed PAT was costly as the Spartans went on to win by one point. The Wildcats will have one more chance to get their first win when they face Centennial on Friday. … The cross country team did not have the showing it wanted at the Region 5-AAAAA Meet, but Allison Brackin finished with a time of 19:37, good enough to put her in fourth place in the region. She will compete in the state meet, which will take place on Saturday. She had the second best time in the county behind Walton’s Kylie Womack.
