Mustangs fall to E. Paulding, take out McEachern

The football team lost to a tough East Paulding team by a score of 27-7 on Oct. 24. The touchdown came on a pass to Christian Lewis in the third quarter. Last Friday, the Mustangs defeated Etowah 30-27 in overtime to push their record to 5-4 overall and 4-4 in region play. Quarterback T.J. Eifert scored the game winner on a 3-yard run in overtime. Is was the second score of the game for Eifert, who ran for 23 yards on the night. Diamond Stewart led the Mustangs with a game-high 236 yards rushing and one touchdown. The team will end the season against Marietta on Friday night. … The softball team played its way into the state finals against Peachtree Ridge but was not able to overcome 11 runners left on base and lost 2-1. Laura Jansky, who went 1-for-4 in the game, knocked the lone run in. … The cross country teams competed at the Region 5-AAAAA meet on last Wednesday. Cori Coogan once again paced the girls with a 12th-place finish while Luis Navarro finished in 19th for the boys
