Indians shock Hoyas, drop crucial game to Kennesaw Mountain

It was an up-and-down two weeks for the football team. On Oct. 24, the Indians traveled to No. 7 Harrison and shocked the host Hoyas, 48-33. Junior running back Rajaan Bennett amassed 174 yards rushing with three touchdowns, and also had a 43-yard reception. Quarterback Daniel King rushed for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to help seal the upset. Last Friday, however, the team’s playoff chances took a hit when it lost in overtime to Kennesaw Mountain, 30-27. The loss dropped the team to 4-5 overall on the year and 4-4 in Region 5-AAAAA. The team is now currently sixth in the league standings, with Woodstock in the fourth and final playoff position. McEachern plays winless Cherokee this Friday, but will have to win that game and hope for losses by Woodstock and Kennesaw Mountain in order to sneak into the playoffs. … The Region 5-AAAAA cross country meet took place last Wednesday at Harrison. Kevin Glendon was the top performer for the boys, finishing 33rd with a time of 17:43.79. Madeline Wood paced the Lady Indians with a time of 21:51, good for 32nd.
