Football fares well in two region matchups; volleyball team enters Final Four

The No. 7-ranked Wildcats (7-1, 4-1) won two games over the past two weeks, starting with a 43-6 victory over Decatur (2-5) on Oct. 17 and ending with a 55-0 blowout of Cross Keys (0-8) this past Friday. In the win over Cross Keys, Westminster jumped out to a 41-0 lead in the first quarter. Ross Conway and Chris Taratus each scored twice for the Wildcats. Westminster hosts undefeated and No. 1-ranked Buford on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. … The No. 1-ranked volleyball team dropped its first match since Sept. 13 in a 3-0 loss to Woodward Academy on Oct. 14. The team bounced back, however, and won the Area 5-AA/A tournament with wins over North Cobb Christian (2-0) and Lovett (3-0). The Lady ‘Cats then defeated Sonoraville, ELCA and Wesleyan in the state playoffs to advance to the Final Four, which will be held on Thursday. … The boys cross country team finished second in a home meet with Providence Christian and Walker on Oct. 14. The cross country teams will compete at the Region 6-AA meet on Nov. 1.
