Knights end losing streak, defeat Campbell 24-20

It took almost two months, but the football team was finally able to end the team’s six-game losing streak on Friday night, defeating Campbell 24-20. Although Centennial will not challenge for a state playoff spot like the team did last year, the last two weeks of the year will be critical for the future of the Centennial program. Last year, Jeff Measor’s squad was able to sneak up on a few teams, especially early in the year. Now, after sputtering through the first three quarters of the season, the Knights need to show a toughness to win late-season contests. The win comes a week after the team lost to first-place Walton, 42-21. The game was close through most of the first half until Walton pulled away 35-14 right before the half. Scott Laffler and Sean Gulrain each took turns at quarterback for the Knights. Both quarterbacks threw a touchdown pass, with Gulrain going for 122 yards and Laffler for 89. This week, the Knights will travel to Lassiter before hosting Wheeler in the final game of the regular season.
