The biggest prize of the 2013 recruiting class raised eyebrows when he pledged to Clemson several weeks back, and even more eyebrows were raised when word got out that he was in Oxford, Miss. As it turns out Robert Nkemdiche noted on his twitter feed that he “went to visit (his) bro so all those media trying make [sic] a big story about (his) visit please calm down.” Nkemdiche is one of three Grayson rising seniors currently committed to Clemson, along with Wayne Gallman and David Kamara. Nick Schuessler will walk on at Clemson after leaving Mississippi State earlier this summer, and Ryan Carter could be the next Ram to receive an offer.
According to PrepCentralOnline, Pepperell’s Andy Dodd has switched his commitment from the Alabama Crimson Tide to the LSU Tigers. The site claims that Dodd recently spent time in Baton Rouge and verbally committed to Les Miles and the Tigers on this trip. After playing tight end last season for Pepperell, Dodd will slide to offensive tackle, a position he will likely play at the next level.
Westside Macon wide receiver Shannon Smith has committed to Troy according to his twitter feed. Jonathan Heeter of Macon.com noted that he picked Troy over offers from Georgia State, Colorado State, MTSU and Western Kentucky.
One of Anthony Jennings’ favorite targets at Marietta, Tyree Harris is headed to Wake Forest he announced Monday. The Marietta Daily Journal reported that he chose Wake over an offer from Mississippi State.
Moving to the hardcourt, Milton’s Jalyn Patterson picked up two offers last week, both from in-state programs and both where former Milton Eagles currently suit up. Georgia Tech and UGA each offered the rising junior, who Eagles coach David Boyd said “has had a great spring and summer; has transformed his game to an elite driver, shooter, ball handler and decision maker,” on his twitter account. Julian Royal and Charles Mann have graduated from Milton and currently attend Tech and Georgia, respectively. He already holds offers from Auburn and Georgia State, and coach Boyd announced via twitter that Michigan State and Michigan have shown interest in the point guard.
