Wildcats’ struggles continue with losses to Roswell, Pope

On Oct. 10, the football could not handle the Roswell Hornets, falling 28-12. On Friday, the team faced archrival Pope and had a tough time scoring, losing this time by the score of 31-0. The Wildcats were able rush for 121 yards and Rashard Stewart had 54 of them. However, Wheeler only had six first downs and 11 passing yards in the contest. With the loss the team falls to 0-7 for the year. The Wildcats will have their last home game of the year when they face Kell on Friday. … The softball team did not qualify for the state sectionals and finished its season with a 3-21 record. Head coach Jeff Milton and his squad look forward to the 2009 season and a more experienced team. … The volleyball team lost to Campbell in the first round of the Area 1-AAAAA tournament and its season has come to an end. The Lady Wildcats finished their season with an 11-19 overall record. … The boys and girls cross country teams each finished second in the Great American Cross Country Festival on Oct. 10.
