The MVP Camp was helped at Alpharetta High School Friday and both Rusty Mansell of 247sports.com and Chad Simmons of Scout.com left impressed by what they saw. Mansell praised Peach County’s Demarcus Robinson, who took home Top WR honors, on his Twitter account, “Robinson got back in my top ten in Ga. tonight. He had another gear that I did not know he had. 6-foot-2 WR running 4.39.” Other winners included Arabia Mountain’s Danny Ezechukwu (Top Overall), Walton’s D.J. Smith (Top Underclassman), Duluth’s Lavonte Cranford (Top Running Back), Peach County’s Chavis Dickey (Top Offensive Lineman), Cedar Grove’s Bryson Allen-Williams (Top Defensive Lineman), Brookwood’s Shaun McGee (Top Linebacker) and St. Pius’ Nick Ruffin (Top Defensive Back).
The University of Georgia Bulldogs picked up two more commitments at the wide receiver position, both coming from players outside of Georgia. That could mean the Dawgs’ recruitment of Robinson has come to a close. Trojans head coach Chad Campbell said of his star wide receiver, “He’s had an awesome spring.” Robinson, who will likely line up opposite a sophomore, should provide mismatches said his coach. “We’re looking for a lot from him.”
Last year, Vanderbilt lost a highly-regarded prospect from the state of Georgia to an in-state power when Tucker’s Josh Dawson de-committed from the Commodores to sign with the Georgia Bulldogs. Lightning has struck for a second time as Central Macon’s Nigel Bowden de-committed from Vanderbilt Friday to pledge to Paul Johnson and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Bowden had been committed to Vanderbilt since March. Georgia Tech now has seven commitments.
Finally McEachern sent one player to Maryland on National Signing Day 2012, and this year another could make his way to College Park. JaJuan Dulaney was offered by Maryland over the weekend. The 6-foot-4 offensive tackle also holds offers from Cincinnati, Marshall and East Carolina.
