Score Atlanta/790 The Zone Game of the Week

When the Milton Eagles go into Raider Valley on Friday night to take on the Walton Raiders, more will be on the line than just Walton’s 11-game home winning streak. The Eagles (4-1, 3-1) will try to stake their claim to first place in Region 6-AAAAA by defeating the undefeated and reigning region champion Raiders (5-0, 4-0).

After losing to Campbell in Week 2, Milton has been dominant in its last three contests, outscoring Wheeler, Alpharetta and Centennial by a combined score of 124-33. For the season, the Eagles are averaging nearly 40 points per game. They are spearheaded by running back Toney Williams; the Tennessee commit has already rushed for over 1,000 yards this year. Helping Williams on offense will be quarterback Wil Perry and receiver A.J. Canara. Also, linebacker Blake Fegan is a part of a big-play Eagle defense.

Walton has an outstanding running back in Michael Boydston, who also has over 1,000 rushing yards this season. Quarterback Ray Rayburn and receiver Price Garrett are high-powered weapons for the Raiders as well. Defensively, Scott Willoch and David Paulsen lead a Walton team that is giving up just 12 points per game.

These two teams have not met since 2005 when Walton won 17-0. In fact, Milton has not beaten Walton since 1994. This will be the Eagles’ best chance to end that streak as well as Walton’s home winning streak and make a push for a region title. Meanwhile, Walton will look to defend its region title, as the Raiders continue their push for an undefeated regular season.
