Maier excels at Colorado tournament; football team to hold walk-on tryouts

Sandra Maier earned CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week honors after leading the 34th-ranked Panthers to a seventh-place finish at the Heather Farr Invitational last weekend. Maier shot a career-low 68 in the opening round and finished even-par 216 for a 13th-place finish.

She shot 76 in the second round and 72 in the third and final round.  Maier posted the lowest single-round and overall score for the Panthers at the tournament, which was hosted by the University of Colorado. “I couldn’t be happier for Sandra,” said head coach Cathy Mant. “Sandra is a silent, patient person that keeps on plugging. I can always count on her. Seeing her rewarded for her hard work is very exciting.”
