The Georgia Bulldogs will be short three players when the 2012 season begins as three players were kicked off the team for violating team rules.
Defensive back Nick Marshall and wide receiver Sanford Seay have been dismissed for allegedly stealing $500 from teammates room according to a report from UGASports.com. Defensive back Chris Sanders was also let go, but it is not known if he took part in the alleged theft.
“It’s a privilege to play college football and to be a part of this team and University,” Georgia head coach Mark Richt said in a statement. “Mistakes were made and part of our job is helping them learn from mistakes. Going forward, we are committed to assisting them find opportunities where they can continue their education.”
Marshall, a former standout athlete from Wilcox County High School, was expected to play a significant amount of time of defensive back this upcoming season. He played sparingly at cornerback and nickelback last year and was primarily used for special teams. He was also expected to join the basketball team in the near future.
Seay redshirted last year, and several sources have said he had some issues with the team this year, and this incident was the final straw.
Sanders played in the first three games last year but missed the rest of the season due to an injury.
