Lions stay perfect; Warriors up next, right on Lions’ tail

The football team rolled in a relatively easy 35-7 victory over Therrell. The Golden Lions’ record now stands at 5-0 on the season. They face a competitive North Atlanta squad this week at George B. Maloof Field. The Warriors are just a game behind the Golden Lions in Region 5-AAA play. Game time is 7:30 p.m. … The boys cross country team finished second overall at the Mercer Invitational with 96 points. Trey Ellis was only two seconds behind the race leader, finishing second in a time of 16:36. Brandon Hoban scored an eighth-place finish in 17:14. They return to the track on Saturday for the Asics Invitational in Douglasville. Both the girls and boys teams are currently ranked No. 2 overall in Class 3A. … Volleyball faces a busy week. The team takes on Pope and Chattahoochee on Thursday at 6 p.m. and plays five games on Saturday at the Northview Playday. Then the team hits the court again on Tuesday to face Blessed Trinity and Landmark Christian. … The softball team faces rivals Marist on Thursday at 5 p.m. Region tournament play starts on Monday.
