Hawks pitch shutout in Homecoming game

The football team celebrated Homecoming with a 42-0 win over Duluth last Friday. Quarterback Ed Russ was 8-of-9 for 168 yards and a touchdown, and Rameal Wilson rushed for 45 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Cierski also ran for two touchdowns and 43 yards. The Hawks play 2007 Class 5A state runner-up North Gwinnett this Friday. … The softball team shut out Greater Atlanta Christian 6-0 last Wednesday in the Brookwood Invitational, but then lost to Creekview 2-0. Chandler Griffin was 3-for-4 with an RBI against GAC Morgan Bullock was 1-for-3 with a stolen base against Creekview. Bullock struck out 14 Norcross batters on Thursday as the girls won 7-3. On Friday, the girls continued their success in the Brookwood Invitational with a 1-0 win over Jones County. The Hawks play North Gwinnett this Wednesday at 5 p.m. … The volleyball team went 1-1 last Thursday, defeating Tucker but losing to Parkview. Mo Simmons had 13 kills. … The boys cross country team finished 11th at the Gwinnett County Championships last Saturday. Austin Boetje led the way for the Hawks with a time of 17:52. The girls cross country team finished fifth in the Gwinnett County Championship Meet last Saturday. Brittany Westmoreland led with a time of 20:19.
